Such.A.Good.Saga.In.This.Franchise.
First saw Cult back in like, 2017 if Memory serves me well. And It Mesmerized Me. Last Bit of IRL Info about me for now that’s Serious, regarding Media or Otherwise; but I’ve Spent a lot of Time in Hospital for your typical American Reasons. Check-Ups, Vaccinations, Tooth Removal, yada yada. But for a Surgery as well I won’t get into the Details of for now. So; seeing a Childhood Favorite of mine tap into yet Another Vein of Life Experiences I’ve had/been interested in. Hit Home.
Add on to the Fact, that after that particular Surgery I Spent 9 Months in a Wheelchair. Yeah. This Tale is Touching and Terrifying in many ways to me.
Cult is a Mesmerizing Medical and Psychological Horror that Taps into the Macabre Beauty of Italian and Classic Gothic Horror; with the Bloody Glee of a Hammer Film. Most of that being Intentional if I Remember Right. The Story of Nica Pierce, admitted to a Medium-Security Psyche-Ward after Chucky’s Curse in the Previous Movie. She is Treated by the Faux-Samaritan Dr. Foley; and accompanied by Patients of Various Aliments. Tiffany, seemingly Mending Ties with Chuck; delivers him to the Clinic. This Sets Off a Subtle Game of Cat and Mouse with Shifting Roles as Nica tries to outwit Charles before he can Complete his Machinations. A Fun and at times Truly Unsettling Horror Movie that Crescendos Beautifully, Carries on the Lore of nearly All of the Franchise in an Intelligent Way; and the only Retcon that could really be a Reach is Honestly Fine and Fun IMO. The Actors are Great, The Cinematography’s Great. Sound Design. Plot. Gore. Writing. Continuity. Fiona Dourif as Nica~~~💓
Truly. Truly a Masterpiece. I Adore It.
I Likes It
I Needs It
It’s Got The Booty
I Love Love Love It.
Which leads me to my Only Problem with it. And Leads me to Curse.
Watched Curse in 2019 I Think. And while pretty much Everything I’ve Said About Cult’s Qualities Applies To Curse As Well. Chucky’s Motive beyond Body-Swapping Confuses Me. But I’ll Save my Thoughts;Since I Believe that’s a Major Focus of ChuckyTV 2. Fiona is a Great Lead, and plays a Respectful Role as a Paraplegic (In Her Legs). The Other Actors Do Well Like Before. The Atmosphere Is Astounding. And I Almost Like It as much as Cult, 1, 2, and Bride; not to mention TV. Like I Said m: Basically All I Like About Cult Is In Curse As Well.
And the Story of the Tension Building between Nica and her extended Family is Genuinely Heartwrenching and Done Well while still Having Fun here and there with the Characters and Setting. Nica may be Best Girl, in terms of Morale and Willpower Definitely Among Kyle. She’s so Caring to Alice, is Charming as can be, but still Struggles with a lot Physically and Mentally. Without her Sister Treating her Worse and Worse after their Mother was Killed in the Intro. When staying in Nica’s Family Home to Help Her Cope and maintain the Place, Chucky then makes his Move after being Delivered to the Home. He Stealthy Snuffs Out those around them, until a Short Time after Seeing Home Movies and Stirring the Drama Pot; he goes in.
Curse and Cult are Beautiful Pieces of Work, Direct to DVD No Less.
However; Chucky’s Motive in Curse, if handled Poorly in the New Season of ChuckyTV, could be the Achilles Heel that is the Decimator of this New Saga. Let us Hope all involved keep At Their Best as they Have.
P.S: Chucky Killing a Sedated Claire in a similar manner to Tiffany’s Glass Rain Murder, then saying “Sometimes I even scare myself” solemnly is yet another of the Most Terrifying Things to me on a Personal Level brought to me by Chucky again.
